Jerusalem Archaeological Park
Introduction

This new chapter presents a survey of Early Islamic Jerusalem, beginning with the rise of Islam in the seventh century CE and ending with the Crusader conquest of the city (1099 CE). It refers to historical sources, provides detailed descriptions of the archaeological finds, reviews the artistic traditions that prevailed, and surveys the Jewish, Karaite and Christian communities under Muslim rule; a list of references is also appended. The web media enables the surfer to enjoy a comprehensive overview of the archaeological finds in the vicinity of the Jerusalem Archaeological Park, while being linked 'on line' to historical sources. A comprehensive glossary and a list of abbreviations are also included.
