Seals and Stamps

Other epigraphic sources are seals and their impressions. The seals state the name of their owners. They were found in the settled areas of the city, as well as in burial tombs Though many of the seals were bought on the market and are therefore of unknown provenance. Most of the stamps were impressed on pottery vessels, chiefly on the handles. Some of names that appear on the seals are historical personages mentioned in the Bible. Also, there were dozens of LMLK stamps, probably of royal origin.
