loculus
Elongated niche (0.5 x 0.5 x 2.0 m in average), hewn into the walls of burial chambers, characteristic of the Second Temple period. Either skeletal remains or ossuaries were placed in the loculi (plural: loculi. In Hebrew: kokh; plural: kokhim).
