At the top of Mount Moriah is a large protruding rock, known as the Foundation Stone. This stone is believed to be the foundation of the world, located at its center. The Rabbinic tradition (Tosefta, Yom Ha-Kippurim 3, 6) draws on Isaiah's prophecy: Therefore, thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a costly corner stone of sure foundation (Isaiah 28, 16) and from this stone God will rebuild his world in the end of the days: And it shall come to pass in the end of the days that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established at the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and all the other nations shall flow into it (Isaiah 2, 2)
