On special occasions, such as on Sabbath or on holidays, there was a special ritual of sacrifices (Numbers 28-29). The holiday of Shavu'ot (Pentecost) was unique in this matter, its offerings including first-fruits consisting of the Seven Species: wheat, barley, grapes, pomegranates, figs, olives and dates. These first-fruits were brought to the temple in a festive procession.
