The End of Sacrificing

The destruction of the temple in 70 CE marked the end of the rituals of sacrifice. The prayers, which had been merely part of the sacrificing rituals at the temple, now replaced altogether the act of sacrificing. In his prayers, the orthodox Jew calls for the rebuilding of the temple and the return of the sacrificing rituals. Conservative and reform Jews, in contrast, do not include the old sacrificing rituals in their prayers.
